HullabaLOU launches nationwide talent search

Hey bands! - wanna share the same spotlight with Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews Band? Here’s your chance!

Churchill Downs Entertainment, ("CDE"), announced a competition that will allow unsigned bands the chance to play at the first HullabaLOU music festival with the launch of “Hey Bands! Be Heard!” a nationwide talent-search competition. Winners selected by "LEO Weekly" readers will play in front of thousands of fans during the HullabaLOU music festival scheduled for July 23 – 25 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY.

"This is the perfect opportunity for HullabaLOU to provide a national platform for deserving, undiscovered talent," CDE Vice President Todd Koesters said. "Louisville a is a great music town and we are confident LEO readers will put their skills to work and help us fill the two slots with the best available talent."

Bands and solo artists are asked to submit original music by mailing their CD, press kit and contact information to LEO Weekly located at 301 E. main Street, Suite 201, Louisville, KY 40202 by April 28, 2010.

The top ten artists will be selected by an independent panel of judges that includes prominent radio personalities. Those nominees will be placed on ballots for the "LEO Weekly" readers to vote for their favorite musical acts. Readers can vote online or mail in a ballot found in the LEO. The bands must be available to play on Sunday, July 25, 2010.  

Winners will be paid for their performance and featured in LEO Weekly, Louisville’s edgy and sophisticated weekly publication."We’re excited to partner with CDE to bring a grassroots element to the inaugural HullabaLOU Festival. The HullabaLOU Musical Festival features 65 bands on five stages with a wide range of artists through Churchill Downs sprawling 147-acre facility.
